| Established in 1985, Equestrian Acres is a premier subdivision of 270 homes located approximately 1/2 mile west of Palmer. In 2002 we welcomed the home owners of Equestrian Glen into our family of members. Equestrian Glen is a wonderful neighborhood of 35 homes located directly east of Equestrian Acres. Equestrian Acres & Equestrian Glen Homeowners Association serves Equestrian Acres, Phases I, II & III and Equestrian Glen by providing common areas, street lights, and the enforcement of protective covenants. Many homeowners choose to apply for boundary exemptions and send their children to Colony facilities, as follows: K-5 Pioneer Peak Elementary; 6-8 Colony Middle School; 9-12 Colony High School |

3-Way Stop Sign Intersection @ Equestrian St. and Kentucky Derby Dr.

| In August, 2008 a second 3-way intersection was installed along Equestrian Street. This one, at Equestrian and Kentucky Derby, completes the interim "traffic calming" initiative the HOA began in 2005. The other intersection is located at Equestrian and Thunder Gulch. As many of you know, the HOA was petitioned by several homeowners in 2005 to install stop signs. The HOA subsequently asked the Borough, and was granted permission, to place the signs. With the new traffic light now in operation, the traffic load on Equestrian Street has increased with cars using the traffic light intersection to save time entering the Palmer Wasilla Highway. Unfortunately, with the traffic has come excess speed from many cars coming down Equestrian Street on their way to this traffic light. The long-term plan is for the MSB to place speed humps along Equestrian Street to mitigate the speed issue. At such time as these humps are installed, the stop signs may be removed. |
